This stuff burns like mad because it’s overgrown and tinder-dry. Before suburbs and agriculture, the California countryside was regularly burned off by its indigenous people to keep it healthy and preclude devastating fires by clearing dead matter. It’d be nice to see some of that responsible management return, regardless of whether the residents find it unsightly. It’s better for wildlife, too.
